Built because every existing option wanted a membership, a login, or only did round robins.

PickleScramble is an independent, free tool for one job: turning a pile of players and a few courts into fair matchups, fast. It was built by Lucas Hansen, a video editor and independent developer in Washington State, after searching for a matchup tool that didn't require an account, a subscription, or a rigid tournament bracket — and not finding one.

The design principles are simple:

• Free means free. No trial, no premium tier gating basic features, no login wall.
• Built for open play, not tournaments. Random scrambles that absorb late arrivals and early exits, instead of round-robin schedules that break when real life happens.
• Fairness you can see. Sit-out counts are visible to everyone, and the rotation is just math.
• Your data stays yours. Player names live in your browser on your device. There's no server collecting them.

The site is supported by display ads and clearly disclosed affiliate links on the gear page, which keeps the tool itself free for everyone.
